Joe Bodego2024-01-05T16:19:50+00:00The Black Creek Community Health Centre (BCCHC) supports sickle cell disease’s mental health program by providing a grant to the SCAGO for its psychosocial and respite program.
Respite Support
We understand that taking care of a loved one with sickle cell disease, be it a spouse, child or other family members could bring on a stressful toil. As such, through the BCCHC grant, the Sickle Cell Awareness Group of Ontario will be providing respite support to 50 families at $170/family in addition to the ongoing Respite, Emergency, and Transportation support that we currently offer.
Note: The SCAGO-BCCHC will specifically support caregivers in paying a family member or a trusted outsider (respite support worker or babysitter) to watch a loved one with sickle cell disease while you, the caregiver take a meaningful break.
Note: Individuals living with sickle cell disease cannot be the applicant except if they are taking care of a loved one be it a child or adult and from which they need a break
