Mrs. Lanre Tunji-Ajayi, founder and president of the Sickle Cell Awareness Group of Ontario (SCAGO), received the Meritorious Service Medal for her work in sickle cell anemia awareness. She is lobbying for approval of new treatments in Canada, including Casgevy and Lyfgenia, which are already approved in the US. These breakthrough therapies represent a significant advancement in treating sickle cell disease, potentially reducing lifetime treatment costs and improving patients’ quality of life.
