Renée Bailey is an incoming second-year medical student at the University of Toronto. She is a graduate of the Biomedical Sciences program at Ryerson University and a graduate of the Masters in Global Health program at McMaster University. Renee deeply values supporting and advocating for the health and well-being of Black communities and other racial minorities.
In addition to engaging in research to explore the impact of race-based barriers on access to timely pain management for patients with sickle cell disease, she also contributes to research exploring the impact of gun violence and COVID-19 in the Black community.
Renee has also partnered with academic and mentorship programs such as Pathways to Education and Inner City Outreach to support Black youth residing in marginalized communities in Toronto. Renee also engages in spoken word art to translate Black communities’ lived experiences with oppression and resilience.
