Sickle Cell Disease Virtual Summit 2021

2021/11/05 10:00:00

How are Ontario hospitals working to improve the quality of care for people with sickle cell disease?

  November 5&6, 2021
  10 AM – 3 PM (Both days)
  Online – Zoom

Join us for the 2021 Sickle Cell Disease Summit featuring two days of patient and caregiver panels, presentations, and Q&As with top Ontario hospitals, including University Health Network, SickKids, North York General Hospital, Michael Garron Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital, McMaster Hospital, and more! This event will bring together the sickle cell disease patient community, health care providers and health system leaders, researchers, and advocates.

After participating in this two-day program, participants will:

  • Be aware of existing clinical guidelines for the care of patients living with sickle cell disease
  • Appreciate the impact of stigma as a barrier to care and ways community members and healthcare providers can address this and other barriers to care
  • Be able to adapt existing care protocols to their own clinical setting
  • Be able to identify key resources in the development or expansion of existing sickle cell protocols
