Dana Powell
Secretary of the Board
Dr. Powell completed her Ph.D. in Physiology at the University of Toronto and The Hospital for Sick Children. She continued on to medical school at St. George’s University School of Medicine, graduating in 2016. Dr. Powell then returned to the Hospital for Sick Children where she completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in Gastroenterology focusing on the pathogenesis of Inflammatory Bowel Disease. She continues to work in the medical field and has produced over eight scientific publications during her years in academia.
Dr. Powell is passionate about using her medical expertise to bring awareness and education in the sickle cell community and advocating for patients and families. In addition to serving on the board, she also supports the social media platforms of the SCAGO.
