Knowledge Translation: Where you live in the province should not determine the type of care you receive, yet many peers with sickle cell disease, especially those living outside of the Greater Toronto Area and other urban cities, have been denied the right care at the right time. This is partly due to the limited knowledge of some of the care providers in the less urban community hospitals. As a reaction to this problem, SCAGO developed the lunch and learn program to allow care providers to interact and learn about sickle cell disease during their lunch hour. The program has been very successful across most regions of the province.
