SCAGO supports law enforcement agencies’ education in regards to SCD. While in custody, many patients have suffered needless complications and premature deaths due to lack of/limited knowledge of law enforcers on the subject of SCD.
Supports school boards and provides management documents for both public and catholic schools’ use. For school resources, go to https://sicklecellanemia.ca/schools
Supports other community agencies and raises awareness among the general public on disease inheritance, the need for testing for sickle cell trait, and genetic counseling as required. We believe this will reduce the number of new SCD births as more people make informed procreation choices.
