SCAGO is here to support families affected by sickle cell disease to access the necessary services and resources they need to live optimally even with the continued COVID-19 pandemic. Also, note that receiving COVID-19 grant support does not preclude you from accessing SCAGO’s ongoing Respite, Emergency, and Transportation support.
Emergency Food Support Available

Do you need emergency food support due to COVID-19? SCAGO is offering a $100 grant per family per year. Only people with sickle cell disease or their family members can apply for this grant. You will be required to provide proof of diagnosis or a support letter from your doctor or social/caseworker. Access the form here.
Transportation Support Available

Unable to attend a vaccination clinic due to lack of transportation? SCAGO can provide Uber vouchers to help cover the cost of travel. This support is available to families with sickle cell disease and the general Black community. Kindly request at least two weeks before your vaccine appointment date. Access the form here.
COVID-19: Financial support for people, businesses and organizations
The Government of Canada is taking immediate and significant action through the Canada’s COVID-19 Economic Response Plan to support people, businesses and organizations facing hardship as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Worried about paying the bills during COVID-19?
- Your job is protected if you have to be away from work because you are sick with COVID-19.
- Your job is protected if you have to care for children or ill relatives due to COVID-19.
- Paid sick leave and income support programs are available if your work hours have been cut or you have lost your job.
